Heart-felt plea over travel insurance - 09-Aug-04.: "Heart-felt plea over travel insurance

Thousands of people with heart conditions are reportedly being denied holidays because they cannot get travel insurance, according to a charity.

Todays Daily Telegraph reports a claim by the British Heart Foundation that its helpline received more calls about insurance around 17 per cent of 24,000 inquiries -than on any other matter.

A spokesman reportedly told the newspaper: When you have had a heart attack or are being diagnosed with a heart condition, the last thing you want is extra worry about money and insurance.

However, Malcolm Tarling, of the Association of British Insurers (ABI), is quoted as saying: People may need to shop around but as long as it is not against a doctors advice, they should be able to travel. "
