It seems impossible, but it was only ten years ago that the first e-commerce sale was made. According to the myth, the first online retail transaction was the purchase of a Sting CD, 'Ten Summoner's Tales.' A company called NetMarket sold the recording to a Swarthmore College student for $12.48, plus shipping costs. Daniel Kohn, founder of NetMarket, told CNET that the online sale got him airtime on National Public Radio and CNBC. 'At the time, it was a huge deal,' he said. 'It was our 15 minutes of fame.'"
