TW Crossroads: "Cendant and Orbitz agreed to distribute merchant hotel inventory from Cendant's franchised hotels on Orbitz.com via JumpStart Web services, a Cendant product, the two companies said.
The two parties did not pinpoint an implementation date.
Distributing merchant inventory through JumpStart is an attractive option for the properties because it readily interfaces with the hotels' existing technology platforms, lowers distribution costs, and eliminates the need to fax reservations, the companies said.
Some 3,100 Cendant franchisees already provide merchant rates to Orbitz, including brands Super 8, Days Inn, Ramada, Travelodge, Howard Johnson, Knights Inn, Villager, Wingate Inn and AmeriHost Inn"
