Opodo chief Scowsill quits - 09-Jul-04.: "Opodo chief executive David Scowsill has quit less than a month after Amadeus took a controlling stake in the online travel service.
Mr Scowsill, who joined the company in September 2002, is leaving �to pursue new opportunities,� the company said.
Bart Tompkins, from Amadeus has been appointed as acting CEO. Mr Tompkins has been a member of the Opodo board since April 2003.
Mr Scowsill said: 'This is a new and exciting time for Opodo, as it moves forward to the next stage of development. However after careful consideration, I feel it is the right time for the business, and the right time for me, to move on.
'I have built up a strong team and know that Opodo will continue to go from strength to strength and achieve its goal of becoming one of the top three European online travel services.'
Amadeus took a 55% controlling interest in Opodo in June."
