Second online travel guide published - 04-Aug-04.: "Rough Guides has released a second edition of its Rough Guide to Travel Online in response to the increasing use of the internet by holidaymakers.
The guide gives an overview for those wanting to research and book travel on the web including basic information about issues like travel health and visas. The hundreds of website reviews are ordered in various chapters by hobby, activity or destination making it easy to narrow a search.
For the second edition, all websites were checked and updated as well as new ones added. New sections like wireless internet advice were been added for people travelling with a laptop.
Author of the guide, Greg Ward told TravelMole: 'According to the latest figures, visits to UK travel websites have increased by a quarter in the last year, and it's said that four percent of all internet use is now travel related.
'In this country, that's spearheaded by the boom in web-based airlines like Ryanair and Easyjet, but, as the Rough Guide to Travel Online shows, you can use the internet to research and make bookings for travel almost anywhere in the world.'
Readers can look up hobbies such as photography, language holidays, and eco-tourism or find websites to help with activity holidays like cycling, sailing and golf. The book also dips into websites catered for specific trips like weddings and honeymoons.
The website are honestly reviewed, but they are all there as recommendations, so none are slated by the authors, Mr Ward and Samantha Cook. The next edition is likely to be published in two or three years."
